Upcoming Opening Reception-Friday May 19th

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University announces a juried exhibition featuring 48 works created by the members of the Ashland Community Arts League. The works on view will range from painting, ceramics, photography, fiber arts, printmaking, glass and mixed media. The exhibition includes local artists Susan Shafer, Mary J Ferretti, Debra Akers, Nancy Dupre, Diane Kaye, Marty Lee Bossler, Cynthia C. Petry, Barb Morejon, Betty Perry, Nancy Pierce, Betz Richards, Caryl Richmond, Peggy Stover, Jan Wells, MP Marion, Irene Maginniss, Lisa Covington and Bea North.



The juror for the exhibition was watercolorist Cathy Welner from Richfield, Ohio. For over 28 years, Welner has been teaching watercolor and has served as faculty of Continuing Education at the Cleveland Institute of Art and has taught workshops nationally and internationally, including a recent workshop on Lake Como, Italy. Welner’s work has been featured in galleries in New York, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts and Ohio. Her work hangs in hundreds of private and corporate collections both here and abroad.

The Ashland Community Arts League juried exhibition opens on Friday May 19 with a reception from 6:00-7:30pm featuring live entertainment by "Rock Salt & Nails," a local band of visual artists from Alliance, Ohio performing original folk and traditional acoustic music. The band features Ashland University’s own Associate Professor of Art Priscilla Roggenkamp. The event is free and open to the public.


The event coincides with the Ashland Regional Ballet & Opus II Dance Studio’s 35th Annual Spring Dance Concert entitledCinderella on May 19 at 7:30pm at the Hugo Young Theatre (Ashland University).

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10am-noon Friday and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free and open to the public. For more information about the opening reception or the exhibition, call 419.289.5652or visit us on Facebook.
