Time Will Tell Exhibition Opens May 23

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University announces the opening of a national juried exhibition titled “Time Will Tell: A Show of Artistic Wisdom and Experience,” which culminates in a collection of 34 artworks that embody the creativity and innovation of the artists ages 50 years and older at all levels of artistic endeavor.

The exhibition features the following artists: Kathryn Johnson of Alabama, Rebecca Kaler of Cleveland Heights, Carve Stone of Florida, Robin Roberts of Ashland, Micki Ansberry of Huron, Debra Buchanan of Toledo, Keith Dull of Ashland, Ronald Gonzalez of New York, Barbara Hack of Texas, Susan Harmon of Kansas, Michael W. High of Chardon, Tom Jackson of Stow, Juli Anne Jonker of Minnesota, Amanda Kiplinger of Polk, George Kocar of Bay Village, Marty Bossler Lee of Ashland, James W. Leslie of Akron, Irene Maginniss of Mansfield, Mark E. Foul of Westerville, Andrew W. Martin of Texas, Barbara D. Morejon of Ashland, Joyce Morrow Jones of South Euclid, Tim Murphy of Pickerington, Beth Nash of Marietta, Cynthia L. Penter of Cleveland Heights, Katina Pastis Radwanski of Hudson, Jennifer Sowders of Fostoria, Frans Van Baars of North Carolina and  M.P. Freed of Wooster.

This exhibition will be on display from May 23 until July 24, with a closing reception on July 24 from 2p.m. to 4p.m.

The jurors for the exhibition were Judy Takacs and Robert Villamagna. Takacs is best known for the painterly realism of her oil portraits and the message of female empowerment of her traveling portrait series, Chicks with Balls and Goddess Project. After receiving a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, she spent her 25 year career as a graphic designer and illustrator. Her work has been exhibited in numerous locations around the nation including: the Butler Institute of American Art, Zanesville Museum of Art, Evansville Museum, MOCA Cleveland, and the Salmagundi and National Arts Clubs, to name just a few. Since 2011 Takacs has received thirteen Best in Show awards from her numerous exhibitions. Villmagna works in repurposed lithographed metal, assemblage, and mixed-media. His work has been exhibited in numerous locations around the nation including: the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, Society for Contemporary Craft (Pittsburgh), the Butler Museum of American Art, and the Erie Museum of art, to name just a few. Six of Villamagna’s works are in the State of West Virginia Permanent Collection. He was also named West Virginia Artist of the Year in 2016.
