Upcoming Opening Reception-Oct 27th

The Coburn Art Gallery at Ashland University will be hosting a printmaking exhibition featuring works by Ashland University alumni printmakers as well as artists from the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Co-op of Lexington, Ky.

The exhibition will open on Thursday, Oct. 27 and run through Dec. 9. The gallery will have a reception on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Ashland University Alumni Print Exhibition will highlight some of the finer moments in Ashland University printmaking from 1999 to 2011. The work was done under the instruction of Associate Professor of Art Keith Dull, and other than two current seniors, the artists represented are graduates of the AU Art Department. These Ashland alumni include many students who have gone on to graduate studies, and one who received an MFA in printmaking. Several of these artists are currently employed as educators in north central Ohio.

The members who will be exhibiting are Dustin Kruty, Carl Raponi, Malenka Kaydan, Ashley Mont, Jenny Snyder, Lydia McClay, Adam Zbdynowsky, Melissa Holton, Laura Arthur-Osborne, Josh Risner, Andrew Ditlevson, Matt Kidney, Esther Foulk, Claire Kerekey, Anna Kiehn and Emily Fitch.

The Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative (BPC) is a thriving print studio in the Lexington area where printmakers work and create a dialogue about prints and art. Following a donation of an antique press to LexArts, the local arts organization the BPC opened in 2004, the group has grown to 20 artists working in all types of print media: collagraphs, monoprints, etchings, woodcuts, linoleum cuts and solar etchings. Not only do members use the press to create their own art, but they work as a group to promote printmaking through exhibitions and community outreach. Exhibiting members at the Coburn Gallery will be Marta Dorton, Elizabeth Foley, Natalia Ilieva, Jamie Karolich, Derrick Riley, Jean Settle and Lauren Wilder.

The Coburn Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday /Sunday. The gallery is closed during university breaks. For more information about the exhibition call 419.289.5652 or visit us on Facebook.
