Call for Entries- National Juried Exhibition -TIME WILL TELL



The Coburn Gallery announces a national juried exhibition entitled Time will Tell- a Show of Artistic Wisdom and Experience which will feature artists at least 50 years of age residing in the United States. This exhibition will culminate in a collection of works that embody the creativity and innovation of artists ages 50 years and older at all levels of artistic endeavor.  The exhibit runs from May 16 through June 22, 2014. Jurors  Al Aitken and Rebecca Kaler.          Al Aitken received his Masters of Fine Arts in printmaking and photography at Ohio University. Aitken has been a professor of photography at Case Western since 2001. His artworks are in the collections of Cleveland Museum of Art and Modern Museum of Art in New York. In 2013, Aitken has exhibited in FAVA in Oberlin, Ohio and Mesa Museum of Contemporary Art Mesa, Arizona. Rebecca Kaler is an artist who has shown extensively nationally and internationally in such places as the Butler Museum of American Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Cleveland Institute of Art Reinberger Gallery, and the Kiosko Gallery in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. She has authored and illustrated a children’s book, “Blueberry Bear,” published by Inquiring Voices Press, and has an extensive background in design, painting, textiles, and ceramics. Kaler was the Curatorial Director of the Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University in Mansfield, OH, for twenty years, and she is currently retired in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Works in any media accepted. All work must be original art conceived and executed solely by the artist within the last two years.  . $800.00 in AWARDS. A maximum of two digital entries for $20.00 are allowed per artist. Entries must be original works in any media (2-D or 3-D), completed within the last two years. January 25 ART SATURDAY – The Self Portrait & Adobe Photoshop for Young Artists-  Students will explore Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator computer program for creating artworks in this three hour workshop. THE AGE GROUP FOR THIS CLASS HAS BEEN EXPANDED now includes ages 10-16 $10.00 per student 9am-12noon

Art Saturday January 25th-Photoshop for Teens

2014 Art Dept Faculty Exhibition



The Coburn Gallery announces its upcoming art exhibition featuring the works from the Ashland University Art Department Faculty. This annual exhibition highlights the two dimensional and three dimensional art of the current faculty as professional artists exhibiting works in their prospective areas. The art department faculty pursue active studio careers in addition to their teaching endeavors. The exhibition opens on Thursday January 16 and runs through February 9, 2014.






The exhibition features the following art department faculty: George Kocar, Priscilla Roggenkamp, Dan McDonald, Cynthia Petry, Charles Caldemeyer, Jessica Wascak, Keith McMahon, Larry Schiemann and Keith Dull.
