AU Art Alumni News

Shout out to AU Art Alum Matt Stake and Liz Patrick. 
Matt was featured in a story in the Ashland TG on Tuesday May 13, 2014 and Liz Patrick was awarded the Jamie Phillips Grant in Aid for First Year Teachers in Guilford County in the amount of $250.00 by the Office of Induction & Success . The grant is awarded by the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Time Will Tell National Juried Exhibition Opens May 16th



The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University announces a national juried exhibition titled Time will Tell: A Show of Artistic Wisdom and Experience,” which will feature 36 artworks created by artists at least 50 years of age residing in the United States.


The jurors for the exhibition was Rebecca Kaler and Al Aitken, Al Aitken received his Masters of Fine Arts in printmaking and photography at Ohio University. Aitken has been a professor of photography at Case Western since 2001. His artworks are in the collections of Cleveland Museum of Art and Modern Museum of Art in New York. Rebecca Kaler is an artist who has shown extensively nationally and internationally in such places as the Butler Museum of American Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Cleveland Institute of Art Reinberger Gallery, and the Kiosko Gallery in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

The exhibition includes local artists Susan Shafer, Mary Jean Ferretti, Debra Akers, Tom Hart, and Heidi Weller of Ashland County. Richland County artists include Betsy Oberhausen, and John Thrasher as well as 18 artists from Northeast Ohio, Columbus, and artists represented from the states of Minnesota, New York, California, Indiana, Oregon, Arkansas, Florida, Washington, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Virginia,  Illinois, Maryland and Texas.
This exhibition, which will run from May 16 through June 22, 2014, will culminate in a collection of works that embody the creativity and innovation of artists ages 50 years and older at all levels of artistic endeavor.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with $800.00 in awards announced at 6:30 p.m.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free and open to the public. For more information about the opening reception or the exhibition, call 419.289.5652 or visit us on Facebook.
