Time Will Tell Awards Announced

Time Will Tell National Juried Exhibition Awards - 
Best in Show was awarded to Purdy’s “Trustafarian,” a $500.00 award.

Honorable Mentions, each a $150.00 award, were given to Beaty’s “Lift Off” and Keske’s “Captive.”



Juror Mention awards were given to Kinderknecht’s “Dichotomies,” Musser’s “Great Horned Owl,” Stein’s “Through Line,” Urdang’s “Channeling Josephine Hopper,” and Weidner’s “Vivarium.”

The Time Will Tell exhibition will be on display in the Coburn Gallery on the campus of Ashland University from June 30 through August 13, 2017. Gallery hours M-F 10am-4pm / Saturday & Sunday noon-4pm. We are closed on July 4th.

Upcoming Exhibition-“Time will Tell: A Show of Artistic Wisdom and Experience”

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University announces the opening of a national juried exhibition titled “Time will Tell: A Show of Artistic Wisdom and Experience,” which will feature 31 artworks that culminate in a collection of works that embody the creativity and innovation of the artists ages 50 years and older at all levels of artistic endeavor.

The exhibition features the following artists: Al Aitken of Medina, OH; Donna Kensel Bargar of Strongsville, OH; Francis Beaty of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Ruth B. Bercaw of Rocky River, OH; Nancy Bixler of Hallowell, ME; Tony Brandstetter of Verona, PA; Nancy Dupre of Ashland, OH; Pat Edwards of Ashland, OH; Julie M. Elman of Athens, OH; M.P. Freed of Wooster, OH; Tom Hart of Ashland, OH; Jane Johnson of Mansfield, OH; Paul Keske of Ashland, OH; Cheryl H. Kinderknecht of West Bradenton, FL; George Kocar of Bay Village, OH; Irene Maginniss of Mansfield, OH; Charles Mintz of Cleveland, OH; Clare Murray Adams of Southington, OH; Laurie Musser of Strongsville, OH; Betsy Oberhousen of Mansfield, OH; J. The juror for the exhibition was photographer and mixed media artist, Shari Wilkins. Wilkins and received her first BA from Kent University and a second at Cleveland State University. She worked in NYC and San Francisco as promotions/marketing directors at two small independent record companies. She created a forum to share her affinity for the photographic image and educate others on the process of developing film in the community darkroom, education center, and gallery at the Cleveland Print Room, which opened in January 2013. Wilkins’ photography and mixed media work has been exhibited in the Greater Cleveland area, Columbus, and elsewhere in Ohio.

Awards will be announced on the Coburn’s Facebook page on June 30, 2017.

This exhibition will be on display from June 30 until August 13, with a closing reception on August 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Awards Announced

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University has announced the awards for the regional juried exhibition featuring 18 members of the Ashland Community Arts League. The juror for the exhibition was Cathy Welner, watercolorist from Richfield, Ohio.

An opening reception was held on Friday, May 19, with $450 in awards announced, including Best in Show that went to MP Marion for an acrylic painting titled “Inside and Through”; first place to Mary J Ferretti’s digital print on metal titled “Faith”; second place to Nancy Pierce for her Prismacolor pencil drawing titled “Ghost Dancer”; and six Juror Honorable Mentions to Janet Wells for her pastels titled “Mohican”; Cynthia Petry for her mixed media work titled “Blackness and Whiteness Relic 1”; Nancy Dupre’s digital photograph titled “Faux Fleur”; Marty Lee’s oil painting titled “Harvest Ghost”; Bea North’s fused glass titled “Triptych”; and Barb Morejon’s wool felted jacket titled “Make A Splash.”








The exhibition features local artists Susan Shafer, Mary J. Ferretti, Debra Akers, Nancy Dupre, Diane Kaye, Marty Lee Bossler, Cynthia C. Petry, Barb Morejon, Betty Perry, Nancy Pierce, Betz Richards, Caryl Richmond, Peggy Stover, Jan Wells, MP Marion, Irene Maginniss, Lisa Covington and Bea North. The exhibition showcases local artistic talent in the Ashland community and will run from May 19 through June 15, 2017.
