The award winners have been announced for the Ohio New Photography juried Exhibition that will run through July 31 in the University’s Coburn Gallery.
This exhibition offered $750.00 in awards to artists, including youth category awards for young photographers 17 years and under. The awards were announced at the opening reception of the exhibition on June 26, 2016.
The outside juror for exhibition was Honey Lazar -Cleveland photographer served as juror for the exhibition. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and is a lifelong workshop student. Selections of her work are in permanent collections at the Progressive Corporation, University Hospitals, and Southwest General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Her photographs have exhibited internationally, most recently in Malaga, Spain.
Lazar accepted 41 entries of the 101 art entries submitted.
Adult Award winners include Joe Applebaum of Shaker Heights, Ohio who was awarded Best in Show - $250 for his digital photograph entitled Suprasternal. Honorable mentions were awarded to Maria Gladman of Cardington, Ohio for her photograph entitled Swan Song and Christine Walsh-Newton of Dover, Ohio for her photograph Completeness.
Youth award winners include Maria Groom of Canton, Ohio who was awarded Best in Show-$100.00 for her digital photograph The Beauty of War. Honorable mentions -$50.00 were awarded to Emily Brustoski of Ashland, Ohio for her photograph Iggy, Victoria Adams of Bucyrus, Ohio for her photograph entitled The Ashes Rise, Maya McDonald of Ashland, Ohio for her photograph entitled Untitled and Colin Mayr of Dublin, Ohio for his photography entitled Friday Times.
The Ashland Photography Club generously donated funds to help to support youth awards.
